Mayhem Festival

San Bernardino, California

June 27th, 2015

Review and Photos by Travis Baumann

This year the Mayhem festival is headlined by non-other than one of the founding Titans of Thrash Metal, Slayer. The legendary King Diamond is direct support and additional main stage acts of brutality would be carried out by the Supergroup, Hellyeah and the Metalcore act, The Devil Wears Prada.

Nine other acts grace the day stage presented by Victory Records including stage headliners, Whitechapel, Thy Art Is Murder, Jungle Rot, the old-school Metal group Sister Sin, and then even more Metalcore with Sworn In, Shattered Sun, Kissing Cassandra, Feed Her To The Sharks, and Code Orange.

Starting at the top and working our way down the running lineup, from headiners back to the start of the day, here is coverage of each band.

Thirteen bands, thousands of fans, and nearly a hundred degrees.

It was an epic festival that ran from just after noon until pretty much midnight by the time you get out of the event, so a solid twelve hours of Metal Mayhem.

There were tents selling merchandise for each of the bands playing with signings of most of the acts throughout the day. There was also an area of general scene related merchandise and then of course the obligatory overpriced food and drink vendors.

The main stage opened at around six in the evening for the first of the headlining acts so most of the day, the crowd gathered around the field stage presented by Victory Records.

The tour is just getting started so I suggest you make your way to the event when it gets near you. By the way, the Pit tickets are worth the price, you want to be up close to see the legends King Diamond and Slayer.
