My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult were one of the first Industrial bands I got into back in the late 1980's. Their blend of mysterious occult influences and dark romanticism combined with keyboards, samples, and aggressive lyrics captured my interest then, and now - two and half decades later - they continue to do so.

Their sound has evolved many times over the years, with the influence of sleazy disco beats and psychedelic fusion taking a greater place in the music than the original devilish cult nuances. None the less, they continue to play the old goodies along with their newer material, making a TKK show a great experience for fans of any era.

The band has had many roster changes over the years but the band centers around the core duo of Groovie Man and Buzz McCoy.

Buzz was not with the band when they took the stage tonight. I could not see if he was in the sound booth handling his duties from there or not but front and center was Groovie Man, accompanied by a woman on bass guitar and a guy in furs on electric guitar.

This was my first time at Los Globos, a venue on Sunset Blvd. down near Silverlake. It had a good vibe with cool lighting and it was nice and cool on this super hot night in Los Angeles.

They opened up the set with "Witchpunkrockstar" off of their 2009 album "Death Threat". This is a cool song with lots of Satanic sound bites that reminds me of their earliest releases.

They treated us to over an hour and a half of songs, spanning their entire career. From their latest album, "Spooky Tricks", they took songs like "Neon Diva" and "Bella Piranha". They hit up "Sex on Wheelz", "13 Above the Night", and "Blue Buddha" as mid-era crowd favorites.

For all of us Die-Hard fans from their early years, they gave us "The Days of Swine and Roses", "A Daisy Chain 4 Satan" as well as the epic three part hit "Kooler than Jesus", "A Girl Doesn't Get Killed by a Make-Believe Lover...'Cuz It's Hot".

The absolute stand out of the night for me was "After the Flesh" from their debut.  It was awesome to see it live after all these years.

It was a good show, Groovie Man in fine form as he moved about the small stage.  His His voice sounded great and it was a nice intimate venue so we were all up close.

This was only their fourth date so they are just getting started on this new tour which gives everyone a chance to get out and see them when they roll through.
