Soilwork are a melodic death metal band hailing from Sweden. The have nearly a dozen albums under their belt with their most recent, "The Ride Majestic", released earlier this year. They are on the road supporting this release, and tonight in Los Angeles is their first stop.

Soilwork kicked off the set with the title track from "The Ride Majestic" which carries with it their signature blend of harsh and melodic vocals. Their founding front man, Bjorn "Speed" Strid, executed both styles flawlessly.

They feature two guitars, lead and rhythm, a bass guitar, live keyboards, and drums along side Bjorn's energetic stage presence.

This is my first opportunity to see them live and I enjoyed it right from the start. They did "Enemies In Fidelity" for their second song. This one also comes from "The Ride Majestic", the new album some quite a bit of love up front.

Bjorn thanked everyone for coming out and announced their next song to be "The Crestfallen" from their 2005 release, "Stabbing the Drama".

The crowd was into them, a huge circle pit taking up the majority of the floor space. They played "Nerve", also off of "Stabbing the Drama" which was definitely an audience favorite.

The singer commented on how it had been too long since Soilwork had played Los Angeles last and that they were happy to see a good turnout of excited fans.

They played songs from all over their span of releases, rounding out the set with a total of ten tracks. They hit "Late For The Kill, Early For The Slaughter" from "The Panic Broadcast" as well other fan favorites like "Bastard Chain", "Stabbing the Drama", and the awesome "Spectrum of Eternity" from their previous album, "The Living Infinite" as the last song of their set.

It was a really good show and I am glad I finally got to see these guys live.
