Rein

Live at The Teragram Ballroom

Los Angeles, CA

June 2nd, 2022

Review and photos by Travis Baumann

Electro-industrial solo artist, Rein joins stalwart pioneers Front Line Assembly on their North American tour. This is Rein's first US appearances but in her native Sweden, she has built quite a name for herself and won a number of awards.

Bringing to the stage familiar synthesizer sounds and danceable beats, she blends old school EBM vibes with a modern aesthetic that manages to appease the hard to please LA industrial gothic scene. People were dancing and moving along to the music as she played.

Rein writes and produces all of her own material, her performance consisting solely of her persona on stage with projections and lights to enhance her unique wardrobe as she dances and sings.

This was my first encounter with her but I did enjoy the music and the performance. My first thought was she looks like a character from Dune meets Bladerunner, both favorites of mine, so it was a cool vibe. She finished the show by thanking Cold Waves and Front Line Assembly and said she would be back in September for the Cold Waves Festival.
