Once Human is a melodic death metal band with a unique take on the genre. Focused around Logan Mader of Machine Head and Soulfly fame joining forces with the amazing vocal talent of Lauren Hart, they have struck a vein of pure musical power.
Logan's driving guitar riffs combined with Lauren's extreme growled vocals push their music to the top of the scene. Joining the duo are Damien Rainaud on bass guitar, Max Karon on guitar, and Dillon Trollope on drums.
Their sophomore album, "Evolution" dropped earlier this year and the smash single, "Eye of Chaos" has propelled them to even greater notoriety so it was fitting that they started with it right out of the gate.
"Killers for the Cure" came close on its heels with "Mass Murder Frenzy" maintaining the fevered pitch of energy. The mosh pit was insane in the steamy venue.
They continued with "Gravity" from the latest release before switching to their debut album, "The Life I Remember" for "Pick Your Poison".
"Paragon" lead to a Machine Head cover in the from of "Davidian" which the fans heartily reacted to. They finished off their set with "Flock of Flesh" from "Evolution", bringing their all too short of time on stage to a close.
Lauren is a marvel on in the flesh, her voice comes deep from within as she leans back and lets it out like a spirit rising up out of her. Logan had been retired for about a decade it seems but the inspiration and the connection between the two gave rise to this amazing vehicle.
I am looking forward to seeing them again and what the future holds for their next release.
